Fire District accepts $10,000 donation from Kansas Pipeline Association for HAZMAT training

Sedgwick County Fire District No. 1 accepted a $10,000 charitable donation from the Kansas Pipeline Association (KPA) to support HazMat training and equipment for the district's HAZMAT team.
Deputy Chief Kevin Nelson said the district won a drawing administered by KPA and plans to use the donation to purchase items for the HAZMAT team such as air monitoring equipment, textbooks or training classes. A KPA representative noted the association provides free training and had selected the district as the grand-prize winner among training participants.
Chair and commissioners expressed appreciation for the donation and the partnership between pipeline companies and local responders. The governing body moved, seconded and approved accepting the donation by roll-call vote.
