Solano County proclaims January 2025 Positive Parenting Awareness Month, highlights Triple P program

The Solano County Board of Supervisors adopted a resolution designating January 2025 as Positive Parenting Awareness Month and received remarks from county and community partners about the Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) initiative.
Alicia Gutierrez of 1st 5 Solano introduced local partners and framed the month as an opportunity to encourage parents and caregivers to use evidence-based strategies. She said the program helps build healthy brains and life skills and invited partners such as Child Start and Parents by Choice to the dais. "Let's begin this new year by making positive parenting a daily habit," Gutierrez said.
Marbella Ellis, family resource manager for Fairfield Unified School District, described a family case and cited program outcomes staff presented: a 28% reduction in child maltreatment reports, improved parenting confidence for "over 80 percent" of participants and a 33% reduction in behavioral challenges among participating children. Local program leads and partner agencies stood to be photographed after the proclamation; staff noted outreach partnerships and program funding that support local delivery.
The board voted to adopt the proclamation by unanimous consent. No new funding was approved during the item; staff noted ongoing program delivery through existing partners and encouraged continued outreach and referrals.
