The Kenyon-Wanamingo School Board voted 7–0 to list the Wanamingo Elementary building at 225 3rd Avenue with Keller Williams, using an asking price of $400,000. Brianna, the Keller Williams realtor who presented the package, said the price was set after soliciting local appraiser opinions and adjusting comparables to encourage interest.
Superintendent Giese, who introduced the context for property proceeds earlier in the meeting, reiterated the district must follow a required order for applying any sale proceeds (first to outstanding bond debt service, then to capital items or other bonds, and finally to the general fund). Brianna described the listing terms, including a reduced 6% total commission structure, proposed marketing (investor outreach, photos and drone footage), a lockbox for showings, and a limit on public comments visible on MLS listings.
Board members asked about appraisal challenges, safety during showings while school is in session, and the timeline for required parcel/PID work; Brianna said surveys and PID detail work are in progress and that the listing was scheduled to go live the next day. The board moved and approved the listing (motion by Marilyn Severson; second by AJ Lindell).
