Westfir approves IGAs with Oakridge for police and fire services; Oakridge planning paramedic hire

The Westfir City Council on June 2 approved intergovernmental agreements (IGAs) with the City of Oakridge for police and fire services for fiscal year 2025–2026, with both motions passing 4–0. Councilor Deretta Huey moved to approve the IGA for law enforcement services; Councilor Love seconded and the motion carried.
Oakridge City Administrator James Cleavenger told the council Oakridge is in the process of hiring a paramedic and plans to hire a part-time police officer for the coming year. Oakridge Fire Chief Scott Hollett reported that one paramedic injured in an ambulance rollover will have a slow recovery and that the city expects funds in the new fiscal year to purchase a replacement ambulance. Chief Hollett said Oakridge is also pursuing a surplus 2017 ambulance from Eugene/Springfield that it hopes to acquire within weeks.
Council members asked no substantive follow-up questions and approved both IGAs unanimously. The motions recorded were: approval of the law enforcement IGA and approval of the fire protection IGA, each passing 4–0 (Watson, Huey, Cheatham, Love).
