Westfir council adopts 2025–26 budget, redirects small ARPA allocation and authorizes $40,000 sewer loan

The Westfir City Council on June 2 adopted its 2025–2026 budget and approved related fiscal measures in unanimous 4–0 votes. Councilor Deretta Huey read the text of Resolution 568 before the council voted to adopt the budget and make the small adjustments described by City Recorder Nicole Tritten.
Tritten told the council that divers inspecting the city water tank determined a wall cleaning service was not necessary, requiring a post-Budget Committee adjustment of $4,471 in ARPA funds. She proposed redirecting $2,118 to the previously obligated Wastewater Facilities Plan and transferring $2,353 to the General Fund for refund to the U.S. Treasury; she said the change did not require a second hearing because it was under $5,000 in any fund. The council approved the change and then adopted the budget with a 4–0 vote (Watson, Huey, Cheatham, Love voting yes).
The council also approved Resolution 568.1, certifying Westfir’s eligibility to receive state revenue, and passed Resolution 569 to authorize an interfund loan of $40,000 from the sewer reserve fund to the sewer operating fund, with repayment scheduled in fiscal year 2026–2027. Councilor Linda M. Love moved the loan; Councilor Huey seconded and the motion carried 4–0.
The votes recorded for the formal motions were unanimous with no abstentions. The adjustments described in Resolution 568 are minor re-allocations within the ARPA fund and do not change the overall adopted budget totals; City staff noted the changes are administrative and intended to align obligated expenditures with actual work completed.
