Event organizer Kevin Gobelman told the council that Concerts in the Park (CIP) aims to build a destination platform for regional musicians, attract out-of-town visitors and promote local destinations such as the Westfir Lodge and Portal Park. Gobelman said CIP has a concert planned for June 22 that would coincide with the Bus Fair and asked the Council to approve an RTMP grant to support the effort.
Mayor Richard Watson moved to approve a $3,000 RTMP grant to Concerts in the Park; Councilor Linda M. Love seconded the motion and it carried 4'0'00. The Council recorded no nays or abstentions. The grant is intended to support marketing and programming to draw regional visitors to Westfir and related businesses.
