Council approves $65,314.83 in April expenditures; rate increase vote postponed to May 5

On April 7 the Westfir City Council approved the April expenditures in the amount of $65,314.83. Councilor Deretta Huey moved to approve the expenditures and Councilor Linda M. Love seconded; the motion carried 3–0.
City Recorder Nicole Tritten presented financial records including cash deposits, bank reconciliations and profit-and-loss reports, and told councilors that a vote on a resolution to increase water and sewer rates was postponed to the May 5 council meeting. Mayor Richard Watson suggested the Budget Committee consider increasing the fee for zero water usage to match the base water usage rate; the council decided to refer that matter to the Budget Committee.
Tritten also reminded councilors their Statements of Economic Interest filings were due April 15; she reported that the city would be refunded most tuition for a wastewater certification test prep that an operator could not attend and that two candidates for a Relief City Operator position would be interviewed the coming Friday.
