The Westfir City Council approved a $2,200 emergency expenditure to buy two desktop computers for City Hall at a special meeting on April 4, 2025. Council President Deretta Huey moved to authorize the purchase, Councilor Linda M. Love seconded, and the motion carried 3–0 with Mayor Richard Watson voting in support.
Council members said the replacement is needed because the current computers, purchased in 2019, cannot be upgraded and Microsoft will end Windows 10 support on Oct. 14, 2025. The council also noted an opportunity to take advantage of a liquidation sale on the previous year’s model and to avoid anticipated steep tariffs on Chinese imports. City volunteer Ken Grimsby had circulated an email recommending the specific computer model and was acknowledged by the council during the meeting. The meeting was convened at 5:41 p.m. and adjourned at 5:45 p.m.
