The Westfir City Council voted April 7 to award an RTMP grant of $3,000 to the Oakridge Keg & Cask Festival. Event organizer Amy Kelley told the council the festival is a fundraiser and that “about 33%” of the event budget is marketing and advertising; she said roughly 90% of profits would be donated to the local food bank.
Council members discussed grant levels and noted inflation; the council decided to increase Westfir’s 2025 grant by $500 over the 2024 award and then approved the $3,000 payment. Councilor Deretta Huey moved to award the grant, Councilor Linda M. Love seconded, and the motion carried with Mayor Richard Watson, Huey and Love voting yes.
The council reviewed Kelley’s application materials before the vote. No further conditions were attached to the award in the meeting minutes. The grant will be drawn from the city’s event-support funds as recorded in the meeting packet.
