Caln engineers recommend Longs Asphalt for 2026 road program; board approves $356,470.80 award

The township's engineer presented results from the July 21 bid opening for the 2026 road program and recommended awarding options 1–4 to Longs Asphalt in the amount of $356,470.80. Erin von Hawk (Gilmore & Associates) told the board four bids were received for resurfacing work on Fisherville Road (Route 30 access to Bonneville Road) and North Bailey Road; the apparent low bidder was Longs Asphalt and the board approved the recommendation by unanimous vote.
Commissioners noted the project will be paid from the township's liquid fuels account, not the general fund. "The bid submitted by the apparent low bidder Longs Asphalt was determined to be the lowest responsive bid ... it did come in about $6,500 over the township's budget," Erin said. The board approved the motion to award the contract and directed staff to proceed with contract execution and scheduling.
