Daggett County Commission approves $20,000 administrative fee for Fund 28 for 2025 and 2026; rate study eyed for 2027

The Daggett County Commission voted to apply administrative fees of $20,000 to Fund 28 for fiscal year 2025 and $20,000 for fiscal year 2026, and directed staff to account for time spent on the enterprise fund and evaluate the need for a rate study ahead of 2027.

The Chair explained Fund 28 is being treated as an enterprise fund for the water and sewer system and said adjustments were needed because there has not been a rate change "for at least 6 or 7 years." The Chair added, "Previous fees were in the neighborhood of $10,000 plus or minus over the last 5 years per year," noting a higher level of staff time and recent work by the auditor’s and treasurer’s offices.

A commissioner moved to apply the administrative fees as described; the Chair seconded. The motion passed with both participating speakers saying "Aye." The Chair clarified that the $20,000 commitments apply to 2025 and 2026 and that 2027 will be developed after staff completes time accounting and a potential rate study.

The commission’s action applies to Fund 28’s administrative budget and does not itself change user rates; the Chair and staff said a separate rate study would determine whether and how customer rates should change in future years. The meeting adjourned immediately after the vote.
