Township receives $299,600 MS4 grant; engineers recommend Macoby Creek streambank restoration to remove phosphorus

Township Engineer Peter Eisenbrown reported the Township's MS4 Pollution Reduction Plan grant application was approved today in the amount of $299,600.00 and recommended a streambank restoration on Macoby Creek at Macoby Run Park to meet the required 35‑pound phosphorus reduction.
Eisenbrown said LTL, the consultant, believes the Macoby Creek restoration is the most efficient project to meet the PRP requirement and that LTL will seek to expand the project area if needed to satisfy future requirements. To address concerns about the long‑term sustainability of the restoration, the Board asked LTL to arrange for Trout Unlimited to share experience with similar projects.
The Board did not adopt final construction authorization at this meeting but will decide whether to accept the grant and move forward with the restoration after further information is provided.
