Local student describes state-funded after-school EL program and targets

The presenter listed current program participation and outcomes: 73% of ESL students are enrolled in the after-school clubs and EL-student attendance is about 89%, she said, and she noted the clubs include painting, coding and robotics, rocketry, cooking, chess and academic-tutoring supports. Parent Maria Bell thanked staff in the meeting for the extra support, saying the program matters for families who need reliable homework help and enrichment. "We had a 4 year grant from the state of Oregon," Yolanda told the board, describing the program—s aims and investments.
