The Nespelem School District Board of Directors accepted Superintendent Effie Dean's resignation after an executive session on personnel held Jan. 30. Board Chair Jolene Marchand moved the board into executive session at 2:58 p.m.; the board returned to open session at 4:25 p.m. and Nancy Armstrong-Montes moved to accept the resignation, which the board carried.
In closing business following the executive session, the board also accepted Areanna Burke's resignation and approved Melanie Herndon to serve as Front Office Coordinator with Coordinator pay (PSE). The board voted to approve a full-time athletic director for the 2026-27 school year; the motion passed with Jarae Cate recorded as abstaining on that item. The board additionally approved the high school wrestling team's regional and state travel as part of the same set of motions.
