Council approves transit cameras ($34,517) and generator radiator replacement ($39,218)

The council approved two routine infrastructure purchases during miscellaneous business May 19.
Staff recommended waiving standard purchasing policies to buy camera systems from Gatekeeper for the public transportation fleet at a cost of $34,517.29 to provide a seven-camera system per vehicle and ensure consistency across paratransit and fixed-route buses. "Staff is recommending approval of a $34,517.29 purchase of cameras from Gatekeeper for the public transportation fleet," City Manager Steve Hansen said. The council voted 6–0 to approve the purchase.
Separately, staff presented a $39,218.94 quote from Alta to replace a radiator on the backup generator at the Quaca well field, noting the generator had shown signs of failure and funding is available in the water fund. "The generator has shown signs of failure and if it were to fail during an emergency power outage, the amount of water that could be supplied to the city would be limited," Hansen said. Council approved that item 6–0 as well.
Staff noted both purchases are budgeted and recommended as necessary to support transit operations and water-supply resiliency; no amendments were made at the meeting.
