A Planning and Zoning spokesperson said the applicant who purchased the property in March 2025 plans a ground-floor cabinet showroom with apartments on the second floor, aligning with the B3 district's mixed-use purpose and the 2019 comprehensive plan. "Staff concur with this recommendation," the spokesperson said.
Council called the question and approved the rezoning by roll call, 6–0. Staff told the council the change is intended to foster mixed-use development in downtown and noted the property’s proximity to adjacent B3 zoning.
