The Galesburg City Council voted unanimously May 19 to rezone 3176 Dover Lane from R3A multifamily to R1A single-family on final reading.
A Planning and Zoning representative told the council the commission recommended the rezoning because the property already contains a single-family home and rezoning would align the parcel with the surrounding R1A district and the city's 2019 comprehensive plan. "Staff concur with this recommendation," the representative said.
Council called the question and approved Ordinance 25-1006 by roll call, with council members recording six affirmative votes. The rezoning was described as aligning the property's zoning with both existing use and the comprehensive plan’s single-family designation.
The ordinance passed on final reading and is effective per normal municipal timelines; staff recorded no conditions or amendments during the meeting.
