Councilors approved two transit service agreements on March 17. Staff recommended a $3,000 contract with Knox College allowing students, faculty and staff unlimited rides on city transit (March 2025–Feb 2026); the council voted to approve the contract after staff noted the amount would count as local match toward broader transit grant programs.
The council also approved a contract with the Knox County Veterans Assistance Commission to provide curb‑to‑curb paratransit service and unlimited fixed‑route rides through June 30, 2026. Mr. Hansen told the council both contracts will not change existing routes or frequencies and that services will be tracked and billed at current fare rates.
