City staff recommended and the council approved an engineering agreement with Hanchen Engineering to update the airport master plan using a single-phase approach recommended by IDOT. Staff said the master plan update is required for future airport project funding and multi-year funding requests.
"The total cost is capped at $407,762 with the city's share being $13,794 and the remainder funded by a mix of federal state and local sources," staff said during the presentation. Staff added that the city previously approved a multiyear approach but now concurs with IDOTs single-phase recommendation.
Council members expressed support for the project's potential to attract investment and improve regional transportation options. The motion to approve the engineering agreement passed on a recorded 6-0 vote.
