Council approves $27,500 brush-cleanup contract with Legacy Corporation of Illinois

The Galesburg City Council approved a bid award for the 2025 spring brush-cleanup contract to Legacy Corporation of Illinois for $27,500. City staff said two bids were received and the recommended low bid is within budget to remove accumulated wood waste at the oversized drop-off site on Pickard Road.
"Staff is recommending approval of the bid of 27,500 from Legacy Corporation of Illinois to remove the existing wood waste from the oversized brush drop off-site located on Pickard Road," staff said. Staff noted the city last cleared the pile in spring 2024 and the current bid is $800 less than last year.
Council members asked whether the resulting wood chips would be used in city parks and if they would be available to residents; staff confirmed the chips will be available to the public and that pickup begins March 14. The council approved the bid on a recorded 6-0 vote.
