Trappe council approves prep work and rubber mulch for Lakeview Park playground

Commissioner Walter Chase moved and Commissioner Rose Potter seconded a motion to approve Peake Contracting’s bid in the amount of $5,550.00 to remove existing mulch, grade the site, install two layers of fabric and four layers of sand, and to approve Playground Outfitters’ quote of $10,021.40 for rubber mulch at Lakeview Park. The motion passed 4–1, with Commissioner Jeremy Newnam dissenting.
Town Administrator Erin Braband presented the quotes and described the work needed to prepare the playground base. Councilmembers Michael Sullivan, President Schmidt, Rose Potter and Walter Chase voted to approve the combined contracts; Commissioner Jeremy Newnam voted against the motion. The council did not attach additional conditions to the approvals in the minutes.
The approved work covers removal and site preparation followed by installation of rubber mulch intended for playground safety. The contracts combined total $15,571.40. The council did not record a timeline for completion in the minutes; implementation details will be handled by Administrator Braband and recorded in subsequent minutes.
