Council approves Main Street closure Nov. 2 for 157th Nace’s Day parade

The council approved closing Main Street from Slaughter Lane to Howell Point Road from 1–4 p.m. on Nov. 2 for the 157th annual Nace’s Day parade and related activities; organizers requested use of multiple parks.
Yvonne Freeman, chairman of the Nace’s Day celebration, told the council the 157th annual event will be held Nov. 2 and asked to close Main Street from Slaughter Lane to Howell Point Road from 1–4 p.m. for a 1 p.m. parade and subsequent activities. She also requested use of Nace’s Park, Veterans’ Park and the open lot behind Veterans’ Park.
Sgt. Aita said the Sheriff’s Office would discuss providing traffic control and Commissioner Jeremy Newnam noted fire-department barricades could be used. The council approved the street closure and park use as requested.
