Council advances ENR upgrade design and authorizes separate RFP for bar/filter screen

Town Attorney Lyndsey Ryan told the council that GMB submitted an agreement for engineering design and bidding services for the Trappe Wastewater Treatment Plant ENR (Effluent Nutrient Reduction) upgrade, including producing bid documents, meeting with contractors and recommending next steps to the Council.
After discussion the council voted unanimously to put the design-and-bid phase out to bid with a stricter schedule so the project can remain on the current timeline. Commissioner Newnam moved the action and Commissioner Chase seconded.
Separately, Commissioner Newnam moved and the council approved issuing an RFP to replace and rebuild the plant’s bar/filter screen now; council members noted that the work is included in the ENR upgrade but can be completed immediately without jeopardizing grant funding. The Council directed staff to obtain quotes and proceed through established procurement steps.
