Trappe Council approves ARPA spending for IT, water meters and treatment-plant HVAC

"Commissioner Newnam made a motion to use ARPA funds to approve the purchase of new computers, new monitors and 2 firewalls as per BDK’s proposal," the minutes record, and the motion was seconded by Commissioner Newnam and approved. The council also accepted Comfort Plus’ proposal to replace the air conditioning and heating unit at the wastewater treatment plant and approved the purchase of meters per L/B Water’s proposal.
Council members said the IT and meter purchases are intended to modernize town systems and improve operational reliability. President Schmidt and Town Administrator Erin Braband reviewed prices compiled at recent workshops before the vote. The council approved outfitting town trucks with requested equipment but deferred window tinting until Town Attorney Lyndsey Ryan can confirm regulatory limits.
Why it matters: The council is allocating finite ARPA resources to a mix of administrative upgrades and infrastructure maintenance.
