The Town of Trappe Council voted unanimously Aug. 7 to buy two public-works vehicles from IG Burton using American Rescue Plan Act funds. Council members set a combined maximum purchase price of $150,000 and asked President Schmidt to inquire about switching the 3500 model's utility bed to a standard bed.
Administrator Erin Braband presented seven vehicle quotes during the workshop portion of the meeting; the transcript records the council's consensus “to purchase both trucks from IG Burton” and that the council “set max purchase price for both trucks to be $150,000.00.” President Schmidt will follow up on the bed configuration for the 2024 3500 Chevy Silverado.
Beyond vehicles, councilors authorized staff and counsel to pursue additional procurement steps for town infrastructure. The council asked Town Attorney Lyndsey Ryan to draft RFPs for a full camera inspection of sewer mains and for replacement water meters and radio-read components because projected costs exceeded available quotes. The town also requested pricing for fencing and cameras at key sites — wellhouses, the water tower and the treatment plant — to improve security of drinking-water infrastructure.
Council members framed the RFPs as next steps rather than immediate contract awards; no contracts were executed at the meeting. Administrator Braband noted budget materials for the General and Enterprise funds were available in the council binders and filed with town records.
