City staff recommended approval of an engineering agreement with Hanson Engineering for the airport entrance road and parking-lot rehabilitation. The engineering agreement totals $119,001.47; staff said the city's 10% share (about $11,009.14) will be paid from the utility tax fund and the remaining 90% will be reimbursed by the state through Rebuild Illinois funds.
Staff described the project scope as resurfacing and expanding the existing parking lot and reconfiguring the entrance road to address deterioration and to accommodate parking during events such as the Stearman fly-in. The project is scheduled for state letting this spring with construction planned for summer.
Council approved the engineering agreement and staff said the scope responds to a long-standing need at the airport.
