Council approves design contract for 6–8 Rotary Park pickleball courts

Council approved a $26,004.50 proposal from Farnsworth Group for engineering, bidding and construction-administration services to develop new pickleball courts at Rotary Park, with staff saying the location has restrooms and parking to support tournaments.
"On behalf of the pickleball community, we'd like to thank the city and the city council for proceeding with the project for building 6 to 8 pickleball courts out at Rotary Park," said Sue Hewlett of the pickleball focus group. Staff said three firms submitted proposals and Farnsworth submitted the lowest responsive bid; alternates for six and eight courts and amenities will be bid depending on budget.
Council members praised the community group and authorized the contract; staff said sufficient funds have been budgeted and that the new courts will relieve demand at Bateman Park where existing courts suffer from subgrade cracking.
