TIDE Committee reviews town tree ordinance and requests additional municipal comparisons

The TIDE Committee reviewed Edisto Beach’s current tree ordinance at its March 4 meeting after Town Council requested a comparative analysis during its annual goal-setting retreat. Vice Chair Edye Graves provided a document comparing tree protection ordinances across six South Carolina coastal municipalities and the committee asked that the City of Beaufort and the Town of Mount Pleasant be included in the comparison.
Assistant Town Administrator Dee Stalvey told the committee she will circulate a recent tree study to supplement the comparison. The committee assigned Graves to update the comparison document and distribute it to members for continued review; no changes to the town ordinance were adopted at this meeting.
