The Redfield City Council on June 15 adopted Resolution No. 2026-02 to establish part-time and seasonal employee job classifications and corresponding starting wages.
Finance Officer Adam L. Hansen read the resolution, which lists Classes 1 through 11 and starting rates — for example, Class 1 (Swimming Pool Manager, Depot Curator) begins at $16.00 per hour; Class 10 (Park and Recreation Head Referee & Plate Umpire) is set at $30.00 per game; Class 11 (secondary referee & umpire) begins at $20.00 per game. The resolution also spells out rules for step increases, year-of-service calculations, and eligibility for annual increases.
Jessi Lewis moved to approve the resolution and Joe Morrissette seconded. Council voted on a roll call and all members present voted "Yes," approving retroactive pay to Pay Period 11.
The measure sets administration rules such as a January 1 effective date for step increases and a 125-hour minimum in the preceding year to receive annual step increases. The resolution was adopted June 15, 2026 and published June 24, 2026.
Officials said the change standardizes starting wages across seasonal classifications and clarifies how service years apply when an employee changes classes. The council did not specify additional budgetary offsets during the meeting.
