Board approves purchase of Genie lift; district reports North Fork flood damage

The Board of Trustees approved the purchase of a 2014 Genie lift to provide Maintenance and Technology staff with safe access to high ceilings in narrow areas such as media centers and hallways. Filiberto Camacho and Director of Maintenance and Operations Nick Von Flue said the lift will improve departmental efficiency for tasks the larger lift cannot accomplish.
Trustee Elisabeth Parish asked that board cover sheets identify the fund source for the purchase. Trustee Seth Waltner moved to approve the purchase and Trustee Jack Thornburg seconded the motion; the vote was unanimous.
Separately under visitor reports, Director Nick Von Flue informed the board of a broken pipe in the Primary wing at North Fork School; Belfor Restoration will assess the damage to the flooded room, which had been used for storage. The minutes record no estimate of repair cost or timeline.
The board accepted an updated US Fish and Wildlife Service assessment regarding the Valley elderberry longhorn beetle, which concluded the beetle's habitat is below 500-foot elevation and that annual monitoring by the district and services by Live Oak Associates, Inc. are no longer required.
