Committee raises website calendar, building access and security staffing concerns

Committee members urged staff to make the city's public events calendar easier to use and to populate it with clickable agenda links so residents can find meetings and events. A member said the calendar boxes for November appeared blank and suggested staff fill them with committee meetings, library programming and park events so the public can easily discover them; staff responded that a separate public calendar is available at cityofnorthlasvegas.com and said they will check and improve postings.

Separately, a committee member described difficulty entering the building for the meeting, saying the staff entrance was locked and the handicap door did not open after pressing the button several times. "I could hear the door grinding, but it wouldn't open," the member said, adding that a staff person eventually directed them to a different entrance. Staff said signage indicates the correct entrance and that security was short-staffed that day, which prevented setup of the additional metal detector. Members asked staff to coordinate security notifications for meetings and to consider accessibility for members and visitors with disabilities.
