Board adopts 2023–24 CCOE budget and LCAP after public hearing
Summary
After a public hearing on June 20, the Colusa County Board of Education approved the 2023–24 Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) and the Colusa County Office of Education 2023–24 budget on June 21, 2023. Staff presented expenditure assumptions, carryover amounts, and concerns about Children's Services enrollment amid UPK expansion.
Assistant Superintendent John lthurburn presented the S. William Abel Academy LCAP and reviewed goals to raise achievement, support college and career readiness, and implement MTSS with partnering agencies. He noted carryover amounts and proposed expenditures for 2023–24. Director of Business Services Angelina Guizar then reviewed the proposed 2023–24 budget (Form 01 and multiyear projections), explained assumptions about Federal, State and local revenue, and discussed pressure on Children's Services enrollment due to Universal Prekindergarten expansion in districts.
No members of the public commented during the June 20 hearing. On June 21, 2023, the Board approved the 2023–24 LCAP and adopted the proposed 2023–24 budget. Trustees also approved related resolutions reporting Education Protection Account use and authorized execution of required agreements for other administrative matters.
