Chawanakee Unified trustees sworn in and elect 2025 officers

At a Dec. 16 special meeting, Chawanakee Unified trustees Jessie Hutchens and Jack Thornburg were sworn in; the board elected Seth Waltner as president, Jessie Hutchens as vice president and Jack Thornburg as clerk for 2025.
Chawanakee Unified School District Superintendent Jamie Nino called the special organizational meeting to order at 6:00 PM Dec. 16, 2024 at North Fork School and administered the Oath of Office to returning trustees Jessie Hutchens and Jack Thornburg.
During the organizational portion of the meeting, Trustee Jessie Hutchens nominated Trustee Seth Waltner for board president; Trustee Jack Thornburg seconded the motion and it passed with the three trustees present voting aye (J. Hutchens; S. Waltner; J. Thornburg). Trustee Jack Thornburg then nominated Jessie Hutchens for vice president; Trustee Seth Waltner seconded and the motion passed. Trustee Jessie Hutchens nominated Jack Thornburg for board clerk; Trustee Seth Waltner seconded and that motion also passed. After election, Board President Seth Waltner began presiding over the meeting.
The actions formalize the board’s leadership for 2025 ahead of a calendar of regular meetings the board approved later in the session. No closed session was held during the meeting.
