Board approves mobile-device regulation and adopts SB 1100-driven job-description changes

The Chawanakee Unified Board approved a second reading of new Board Regulation 5131.8 (Mobile Communication Devices). Superintendent Jamie Nino said site principals would have discretion over defined consequences and that the regulation will take effect after the district's winter break.
Nino also reported that job descriptions were reviewed and updated to reflect Senate Bill No. 1100, which limits employers from requiring a driver's license in job postings and application materials. Trustees also considered a lengthy set of policy and administrative regulation revisions (BP/AR items spanning nondiscrimination, Title IX procedures, technology use, curriculum and governance); a motion to approve one set on second reading died and the board approved a first-reading motion to move several items forward for further review.
