District to pursue grant-funded carts and upgrade SCADA and energy systems

At the Dec. 16 meeting Chawanakee Unified's MOT Director Nick Von Flue asked trustees to approve a 100% funded San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District Public Benefits Grant component to expand the district's electric cart fleet for site logistics. The board approved moving forward with the grant application.
Von Flue also described the district's need to update an aging Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for the Minarets water and wastewater treatment plants to enable remote troubleshooting, and to replace the Energy Management System software and components being phased out in January 2025. Trustees unanimously approved both upgrade projects to maintain remote monitoring, lighting and HVAC scheduling and to support operations at Minarets Crossing under the district's MOU with the development.
