Mountain Oaks High School will receive 30 new MacBook laptops after the board approved the purchase using Comprehensive Support Improvement Grant funds, Principal/teacher Paul Shoaf said. Shoaf said newer computers will allow students to run advanced coding and software programs needed for the Fundamentals of Computer Programming course and that upgraded hardware may help with recruitment and attendance goals.
Shoaf and Filiberto Camacho also presented a Parsec contract renewal. The Parsec Real engagement plan is designated as "Tier 2" under Mountain Oaks' improvement strategy and will include a needs assessment, root-cause analysis, selection and implementation of evidence-based interventions, and data to monitor outcomes. According to the minutes, Parsec "will also supply Mountain Oaks with data to monitor outcomes and assess improvement efforts." Trustees approved both items unanimously.
