The North Las Vegas Library District voted to ratify a state collection development grant to fund a year-long subscription to ABCmouse, an early-learning digital resource for children ages 2 through 8. Shelly Alexander told trustees the grant is about $5,998 with $4,148.97 in local in-kind matching funds from fund 00290.
Alexander said ABCmouse will be available both in the library and at home and "will be included with the library card." She explained the district is still finalizing authentication details with ABCmouse and intends to activate the service in January. Trustees asked whether ABCmouse overlaps with IXL; staff clarified that IXL serves K—12 and does not include pre-K content, creating a gap this subscription will fill.
Trustee Kelly moved to ratify and authorize acceptance of any resulting award; the board seconded and approved the motion. The authorization allows the library director or designee to execute required contracts and purchase orders if the award is made.
