Chawanakee Unified School District trustees unanimously approved a 45‑day revision to the district’s adopted budget at their Aug. 13, 2024 regular meeting. Melissa Kielpinski, the district’s Chief Business Officer, outlined adjustments to include instructional software for online learning platforms and assessments and described ongoing efforts to identify savings from newly vacated positions.
Kielpinski reported, "The reserve percentage for the General Fund is 4.61%." Board members said they will continue to monitor vacancy‑related savings and directed staff to fold the changes into the district’s 1st Interim Budget Report, scheduled for presentation in December. The motion to approve the 45‑day budget revision was made by Trustee Seth Waltner, seconded by Trustee Elisabeth Parish, and passed unanimously (Ayes: B. Bigelow; J. Hutchens; S. Waltner; J. Thornburg; E. Parish).
