Council approves MOU changing probationary periods for police lateral hires

The North Las Vegas City Council voted to approve a memorandum of understanding that amends the 2024-2027 collective bargaining agreement with the North Las Vegas Police Officers Association (POA) to add probationary-period language for lateral hires and for officers who voluntarily resign or transfer and later return to POA-covered positions.
Wilson Edgill, the city's director of human resources, told the council the MOU "talks about the new probationary periods for our, lateral police officers who will serve a 12 month probationary period" and explained the change is intended to cover lateral hires and officers who return to the bargaining unit. The council opened and closed the public hearing with no public speakers and approved the motion to adopt the MOU.
