The North Las Vegas City Council voted on Oct. 15 to approve the sale of about 19.38 acres at 2300 Civic Center Drive to Agora Realty and Management Inc. The council adopted a resolution finding the sale in the public interest and authorized a disposition and development agreement that, according to city staff, will support a civic building, commercial space and private multifamily housing.
Terry Sheridan, economic development (speaker 13), summarized the project and its fiscal impact, saying the site "will generate an estimated $1,600,000 in new annual tax revenue." Carrie Lefton, representing Agora (speaker 14), showcased renderings and described plans for a civic/recreational building, an outdoor pool, a dog park and retail to foster a walkable downtown. "It takes a village to build a village," Lefton said while thanking city staff and partners.
Council members framed the project as a long-sought step toward a walkable downtown core. Several council members noted the site's potential to remove blight, create short-term construction jobs and catalyze additional downtown investment. The council moved and passed the motion to approve the resolution and the DDA. The project team said construction will include three campus components — civic, commercial and multifamily — and estimated broader economic benefits during council discussion.
