Heineinen noted a $23,000,000 NOAA grant that will fund a regional center for collaborative heat monitoring and a proposed biosciences lab that has prompted a House bill seeking a $1,500,000 matching appropriation. "Our mission restated as sparking curiosity and respect for nature and science among our community," she said, and asked the board to support transit and access testing to expand community reach.
Commissioners asked for follow‑up on which schools are served by the museum’s 5th‑grade partnership and the timeline for exhibits and pavilion openings; museum staff said they would provide school lists and offer tours of the campus.
