Jason Genk told the council the project will evaluate existing facilities, programming and connectivity and will produce an actionable capital plan aligned with available resources. “We started a couple of months ago, and it's a year long process… engagement largely be taking place over the next 90 days,” Genk said, outlining outreach tools such as an online portal where residents can place pins to suggest improvements and a map-based survey.
Councilmembers and staff representatives described existing priorities—modernizing older parks, expanding recreation-center access, and adding amenities like splash pads and fitness courts—while stressing equitable distribution across mature and developing parts of the city. Parks staff and residents at the meeting highlighted program benefits for youth and older adults, and the plan will include a fiscal strategy to prioritize investments and funding pathways.
