City Manager reports successful summer events; teen council applications open

City Manager Lori Curtis Luther told the council that Overland Park hosted six soccer summer celebration events tied to FIFA World Cup programming and that staff registered more than 6,000 attendees. "Despite the heat and hosting thousands of visitors over the 6th soccer summer celebration events this summer we had no issues or concerns at any of our events," Luther said.
Luther thanked partners including Prairie Fire and Blue Hawk and noted that staff issued a feedback form for event attendees. She also announced that teen council applications are open through Aug. 31 for Overland Park high school students, describing the program as a chance for students to learn how local government works and to participate in committee meetings and service projects.
