Public Works staff report APWA accreditation review, mark service milestones

Public Works staff reported the department is in the final stages of its sixth cycle of APWA accreditation, recognized a 25-year city employee and commended summer engineering aides for identifying a sanitary sewer overflow.
Lauren, Public Works staff, said the department is pursuing its sixth cycle of American Public Works Association accreditation and expects an APWA compliance review next month.
She commended long-time employee Jackie Clark on 25 years of service and praised summer engineering aides Kate Bassett and Ryder Burdett for identifying a sanitary sewer overflow that was caused by a grease blockage and was mitigated by Johnson County Wastewater. “It really helps for us to be able to retain institutional knowledge,” Lauren said. The committee received the update and offered thanks to staff.
