Superintendent Miguel Barriga told trustees on Jan. 16 that construction projects are advancing: the parking lot and softball field remain on schedule with an anticipated completion date of Jan. 31, 2025, and the ag shop and additional classrooms are being processed with an "over the counter" appointment with DSA on Jan. 29.
Barriga also described facility improvements completed this year, including newly wired ceramics kilns, a functioning Centennial woodshop and an upgraded cafeteria refrigerator. He reported a current sewer-line clog that likely requires replacement and said maintenance staff have been actively troubleshooting leaks and electrical-circuit updates in the cafeteria to support new equipment.
On enrollment, Barriga reported 953 students at CUHS (up one), 69 at Centennial (down three) and 36 at ISP (down five), for a district total of 1,064 students — nine fewer than the prior reporting period. He said the district is pursuing an updated master facilities plan through NMR and will coordinate next steps and timelines for required updates before state submission.
