Corning Union High board approves ranch manager contract, van purchase and multiple project items

The Corning Union High School District Board unanimously approved an employment agreement for a Ranch Manager and cleared several operational items at its Oct. 17 meeting.
A motion by Cody Lamb to approve the Ranch Manager contract for the term Dec. 1, 2024–Nov. 30, 2025 passed without opposition (aye: Larry Glover, Tony Turri, Cody Lamb, Jim Bingham; absent: Todd Henderson). The agreement sets the annual salary and lists district-paid health and other standard administrative benefits for the manager position.
The trustees also approved a grant-funded van purchase and administrative items on the consent calendar, which included minutes, warrants, interdistrict attendance requests and multiple agreements such as a nursing-services memorandum with the county office. There was no public comment on closed-session items and the Board reported no closed-session action when it returned to open session at 8:32 p.m.
Superintendent Miguel Barriga provided routine operations and construction updates at the meeting, including an enrollment snapshot (1,067 districtwide) and progress on campus work. Barriga said, “The parking lot is moving along well. Paving is a set date for November 12.” The Board asked that fencing and campus security be agendized for possible action at the November meeting.
