Principals report CTE growth, assessment baseline work and enrollment figures

At the Sept. 12 meeting Associate Principal Justine Felton reported that Social Science is incorporating English language acquisition strategies and that Math and English departments are administering Star Math/Reading assessments to establish baselines for intervention planning. Science is in year two of a three-year plan with a goal of a lab activity every other week.
Felton presented detailed CTE pathway enrollment and capacity (examples include Intro to Ag Mechanics: 121 of 125 seats filled; Ag Core 1: 137 of 140; Foods and Nutrition: 99 of 100). Centennial Principal Audri Bakke detailed Centennial's enrollment (10th grade 3; 11th 23; 12th 34) and staffing (five teachers) and noted program changes such as a single school session, advisory class, and additional CTE enrichment offerings.
The Board heard that Careers in Education and Entrepreneurial Careers are seeing increased off-campus work experience placements and that more than 25 local businesses are participating in work-experience opportunities.
