DPW reports park improvements, street maintenance and decision to tunnel under tracks for Altice project

Staff reported the new DPW Yoakum Street Park is completed aside from a berm that should be finished in spring 2025. The department plans to plant five maple trees at 5 Corners Park in spring 2025 and to remove one existing maple. A National Grid grant valued at $9,200 is in process, and crews continue pothole repairs, tree-removal work and regular sweeping of all zones (with downtown routines Monday and Friday).
On infrastructure coordination, the board recorded a decision to tunnel under the railroad tracks on North Main Street to accommodate Altice; Altice will submit plans to the Long Island Rail Road. The notes also record that the LIRR pot-belly stove was refurbished by Doug Ketchum and will be installed in the Farmingdale Train Station.
