The council on Dec. 9 approved first reading of Ordinance 1-13-2026-02, authorizing staff to move forward on a real property sale agreement for the parcel at 124 Unity Church Road that hosts a 40,000‑gallon water tank serving portions of the Long Creek area. City Administrator Kevin Bronson told the council the tank was located on a 40‑year easement lease that expired in 2023 and that the expiration allows the city to begin negotiating purchase of the property; Utility Director Scott Parris is slated to lead negotiations.
Councilmember Adam Dunn moved approval and Councilmember Daby Snipes seconded; the motion passed unanimously with Ruth May recorded absent. The ordinance was approved on first reading only; staff said final sale terms, price and closing timeline will be negotiated and brought back to council for final action once negotiations are complete.
