Manufacturer agrees to replace splash-park buckets after repeated bearing failures, staff says

Ryan, a parks staff member, told the board Nov. 19 that repeated bearing failures on the splash-park bucket had forced multiple repairs and that the manufacturer agreed to take corrective action. Ryan said staff rented a scissor lift to assist with the work and that the manufacturer’s replacement should solve the recurring problem.
Ryan said, "Well, Vortex, the manufacturer, finally decided we're gonna go through and replace all of these buckets with sealed bearings." He added that the company performed the work free of charge and that the replacement used weatherproof sealed bearings intended to better withstand constant wet conditions. Staff characterized the action as the manufacturer standing behind its product after similar reports elsewhere.
Board members expressed relief that the replacement was completed and that the fix appeared to address a persistent field maintenance headache.
